$a left=11; dcpi=12; invert=0; pageno=1 $l0 Instructions for the use of the HP 7475 plotter =============================================== (When being used in conjunction with a terminal) SWITCHING ON : ============== Switch on the plotter at the mains switch above the place where the power comes in. The A3 green LED on the control pannel should be on. Leave the plotter switched on during the day, but please switch off if you think that you will be the last users of the day. SWITCHING OFF : =============== Just put off the mains switch. CHANGING PENS : =============== The default pens are either 0.3mm felt pens. Users who wish to use 0.7mm felt pens should contact JGH. Note that the plotter does NOT take the Liquid Ink or Roller ball pens which the larger models take! If you require to change a pen, lift back the plastic cover and then lift the pen cartridge up to remove it, the pens just clip into the cartridge, and then it is placed in the plotter again, and rotated until it locks. ADDING THE PAPER : ================== To add paper: Move the 'paper loading level', the back lever beside the paper tray, so that it points away from the front of the plotter. This is the Chart Load state, and is indicated by the ERROR light being lit. Enter the sheet of paper so that the far edge of the sheet is against the light coloured plastic 'paper stop' which is raised if the plotter is paper stops (bits of black plastic) at the front and back of the plotter. The right hand paper stop should be moved so that the arrow points at the right hand edge of the paper. This is done by lifting the plastic cover, and pressing down on the paper stop at the back. It can then be slid in either direction, (while it is pressed). At present the drawing is always scaled to fit the paper which is put in. Telling any program the size will correct the aspect ratio of the picture. A3 paper is 40 cm x 28 cm, and the large sheets are 90 cm x 60 cm. Press CHART HOLD and then REMOTE to hold the paper and allow the plotter to continue. REMOVING THE PAPER : ==================== If the VIEW button is not lit, then press VIEW. Press CHART UNLOAD The paper will then fall out. $n$l0 COLOURS: ======== All of the colours are selected by the EDWIN routine SET COLOUR. Note that programs using more than 4 colours will also work on the model 7221 plotters, and the user is asked to change the pens as required. The following is the mapping of colours to slots : Slot no. Edwin no. Colour -------- --------- ------ 0 0 Puts the pen away 1 4 Red 2 3 Green 3 2 Blue 4 1 Black 5 5 Turqoise or Purple 6 6 Orange ABORTING A PLOT : ================= The following is the suggested sequence for aborting a plot. a) Abort the program producing the plot (^Y or ^C etc.) b) Allow the plotter to use up the instructions which it has buffered. c) Remove the paper. d) If a program has been aborted (rather than just the current plot from withing a program such as CIFVIEW), it is worth pressing the ENTER button, and then CHART HOLD which performs the reset function. CHANGING PENS DURING A PLOT : ============================= If a large plot is being made, and the pens show signs of running out, the following sequence allows then to be changed without loosing any of the plot. a) Press the button marked VIEW. b) Press the button marked ENTER. Then press the pen select button of the slot which is currently empty. (The pen will be put away). c) Change the pen. d) Press the pen select button again to pick up the new pen. e) Press the button marked REMOTE. (The plotting will resume).
